Agenda of this week was:

Week 3 will be majorly focusing on Scholarships. The opportunities compiled by you in the first week consisted of a lot of scholarships, on which your mentors will be expanding on how to apply to those.

In our first week we created a list of Scholarship Opportunities that are present out there (link). As a 3rd year students we weren’t eligible to be applying to some of the great opportunities that are out there like STEP program by Google, WTM Scholarship etc… If you are a freshman or sophomore do check them out and links for them are provided in my first blog.

At the time of applying to any Scholarship or Fellowship there are a lot of chances that you will have to write an Essay for the submission of your Application. And having a good essay increases a lot of chances of you getting selected for the same.

Essay Writing: Writing an essay has always been a major part before applying to any Scholarship, Fellowship or Mentorship.

Few Points I took back from Mentor for writing an Essay:

  • Always keep in mind the word limit, exceeding that won’t give good impression.
  • Do look out for the previous year’s scholars answers and what all process they went through.
  • One may reach out to them if any help needed regarding the same. They would be happy to help.
  • Structure of your essay matters a lot.
  • If your word limit is restricted to 200 words to keep your points concise and to the point.
  • WRITE ->ANALYSE -> REPEAT. This is one of the important point one shouldn’t miss. You will evidently notice the difference between your first and final draft.
  • Keep in check Spelling and Grammatical errors they are a big NO NO!!.
  • Don’t add anything negative against them.

Also having in depth knowledge about the initiative of the company would give you some brownie points.

P.S.: Do check out the blog by Akanksha Tanwar linked here. She gave an detail guide upon how you write.

Other than that just stay confident and keep learning!!
